10 - Radiator & More

Well, the parts arrived from Euro Car parts, so I opened the box and got cracking. I started with the Radiator- had to take the old fan housing off the leaky radiator and install it on the new one. While off, I sanded and painted it so it would look better. After installing the temp sensor I fitted the radiator and installed it. Here's a pic:
Next up was the Accelerator Cable. Because there was a diesel accel cable, there was no hole in the firewall for the gas accel cable to attach to the carb. Got out the trusty drill and lined up and drilled a hole for the accel cable to pass through and attach to the carb. Here's what it looks like all done:
Then I got the old speedo cable removed and installed the correct one from Eurocarparts. Here's the end inside the car:
Also, removed the old diesel cluster:
And installed the Gas one Steven sent from the donor:
After refilling the cooling system I noticed a very small seepage from the thermostat housing here:
FORTUNATELY, the part that is cracked and leaking is used on many VW's, so I was able to order a new one with gasket from a local VW dealer. Should be here before Christmas, but I won't have time to install it until after the new year.
That's about it for now. Next up I have to install the fuel lines and see if she fires up (I doubt it, but worth a shot)
